Maternity Benefits during Unpaid Leave

Hi,

I have a staff with income less than RM1500 who took unpaid leave since the start of her pregnancy. It was agreed by the companny that we will keep her position open til she returns from her 9 months unpaid leave. Do we still have to pay her 2 months maternity compensation?

I tend to think all benefits would be suspended when an employee is on a period of no pay leave. Consult the Labour Department for they may think differently.
