This coming Christmas 2011 and New Year 2012 is fall on Sunday. But my company HR ask us to replace the Holiday on Saturday (Half Day Working) instead of Monday. And this policy will be impose on similar future occasion. What is our right for this matter? Do we entitle to request for extra payment to work on Monday?
Since Xmas is not a compulsory public holidays under the EA, the employer may replace by any day. If you don't agree, you may consult the Labour Department. There will be not extra payment for Monday since Xmas was replaced by Saturday. You better get an official view from the Labour Department.
