I just started working for a company. My salary is above RM 1500
During interview, I was asked whether I can do OT and work during weekends.
I said ok should not be any problem.
After working a few days, I found out that the company actually pays OT only in 2,4,6 hours and does not allow OT claim in 1,3,5,7 hours

Also I was told by one of the colleagues that the OT claim only starts at 10.30p.m

I was not told in the interview or in the contract.

I finish work at 5.30pm.

So even if I end at 8.30pm, I cannot claim and OT and the OT claim only starts at 10.30pm onwards. (meaning if I work till 12.30am only can start claim 2 hours, 2.30am - 4 hours and so forth)

Is this even allowed under the law ?

The company does not pay OT. Only can claim hours - meaning you work 2 hours you get to take 2 hours next time
At end of the year, accumulated leave and hours will be converted to cash.

I think there is very little you can do about it as your are not covered by the Employment Act (which only covers non manual employees with salary not more than RM1500). How come your colleagues have no problems with the OT system? If you really cannot get used to the system, slowly try to look for some other openings after sometime.

Ok thanks for the reply.

Some of the colleagues are also not happy. Some are looking for new jobs. So are quitting.

While I am still thinking whether to quit or not..

Is there any maximum number of hours you can work in a day ? (e.g 12, 16 hours)

How many breaks can we take in between if lets say 12 hours work ?

The Employment Act is clear about working hours. But never mind, just continue to work and gain some working experience and then decide whether to quit or not.
