medical claim

I was sick during my vacation in Bangkok. I found out that my colleague successfully make a medical claim when she was travelling to New Zealand. My handbook states that medical is claimable upon receipt. However my claim is rejected. Reason being is that the medical bill is not within Malaysia and the HR has admitted their mistake by allowing the 1st claim and they would not allow this in future. There is no memo on this and the handbook does not specify overseas medical bill is not claimable. I feel so unfair. Following the employment act, could i make the claim in my case?

In fact, there is no provision for medical claims under the Employment Act. I think in your case, it depends mainly on the policy of your company. Why not you also consult the Industrial Relations Department for some advice?
