My friend had been terminated by his employer within 24 hours. He just join the company on Mar 2007. His probationary period was 6 months. Under the probationary period, the resignation/termination notice is 1 monthor pay 1 month's salary in lieu of notice. His received salary of RM1,800/= pm and fixed management allowance of RM1,200/= pm. How much is his termination benefit due to short notice?

He should get a month's salary in lieu of notice as stated in the contract of service. He is not entitled any termination benefit. Your friend can seek redress at the Industrial Relations Department. if he thinks he is wrongfully dismissed. They will give him the proper advice.

Thank you for your reply. Somebody told me that he can ask for RM3,000/= (Salary + Allowance) and not RM1,800/=.

Is it true?

Yes it is salary + allowance.
