My company deducts money from employee's salary for silly mistakes `such as not wearing tie. and today my IT manager got fault deduction for RM500, end of the month once we get our payslips it mentioned there as "advance pay" and not as fault deduction. Is this legal? and we are also working 2 sundays this month without getting paid. they said we work to replace the two public holidays.

Obviously, fault deduction for not wearing tie and not paying for working on Sundays, are not lawful under the Employment Act. For those of you with salary not more than RM2000, and covered under the Employment Act, they should bring the matter up with the Labour Department.
